Driving in Singapore
Singapore Airport is situated 20 kilometres east of Singapore city. Road charges are high and public transport is efficient so traffic is less congested than in most other major cities.
Electronic Road Pricing
Singapore operates an Electronic Road Pricing system. This is beginning to replace the old manual system. Currently it applies to the East Coast Parkway, Pan Island Expressway, Ayer Rajah Expressway and Central Expressway from 7:30 am to 9:30 am Monday to Friday. Electronic Road Pricing is also charged when a vehicle enters the Central Business District between Monday and Friday from 7:30 am to 7:00 pm and on Saturdays from 7:30 am to 2:00 pm.
