Shanghai Pudong International Airport Ground Transportation
Introduction
Maglev train services, buses, and taxis serve the Pudong International Airport.
Maglev Train
The fastest train in the world connects the Shanghai Pudong International Airport with Shanghai city centre. During its eight minute journey along a 19-mile, elevated highway, the Maglev train reaches a top speed of 430 kmph (267 mph). And it does so without touching a track: instead magnetic forces hold it in the air and push forward its sleekly shaped carriages. Travelling on it is a 'must have' experience for any visitor to Shanghai.
The airport terminal is linked to the railway station via a bridge; the city centre station is at Longyang Road.
Bus Services
Six bus routes serve the areas in and around Shanghai, and operate between the hours of 7:20 am and 11:00 pm. Airport Bus 1 connects Pudong International Airport with Hong Qiao International Airport. The approximate journey time is 35 minutes. Airport Bus 2 runs to Shanghai Exhibition Center. Bus no 925 serves the Shanghai People's Square while Bus 938 connects with Pudong Yangjiadu. Bus 806 serves Zhongshan South Yi Road, Bus 807 operates to Shanghai West Railway Station, and Bus 941 operates to and from the Shanghai Railway Station.
Taxis
Taxis are available for hire outside the main airport Terminal. Travellers are advised to engage taxis with meters. Queues for taxis are based on distance and travellers are advised to ensure that they join the correct taxi queue. Journey time to Shanghai city center is between 25 and 45 minutes.
