Introduction
Helsinki Airport (HEL) is Finland's busiest airport, handling around 13 million passengers each year to around 100 domestic and international destinations. Helsinki-Vantaa International Airport hosts 28 scheduled and 10 charter airlines, and is the base for Finnish national carrier Finnair.
Located 11 miles (18 kilometres) north of Helsinki, six kilometers from the Vantaa town of Tikkurila, Helsinki-Vantaa Airport provides fast and efficient transport links into Finland's capital city by Finnair and local buses or taxi. A new rail connection to downtown Helsinki is currently under development, whilst a choice of car rental companies based at the airport allow passengers to reach Helsinki in about 30 minutes.
