Introduction
Hamburg Airport (HAM) is northern Germany's premier gateway to Europe, providing direct flights between 120 worldwide destinations.
Located five miles (eight kms) north of Hamburg, HAM Airport is linked to central Hamburg by regular and express buses, airport transfer services and taxis. A fast, direct rail link to the city centre, running every 10 minutes, is due to be opened in 2008.
HAM Airport hosts 60 airlines, including Lufthansa, Air Berlin, Air France and British Airways, and provides extensive amenities for travelers. A major upgrade in 2005 has resulted in a switch to two state-of-the-art terminals to replace the four existing buildings, plus a new shopping plaza.
Hamburg International Airport offers a choice of bars and restaurants, gift, news and duty-free shops, money and business amenities, and health and special needs facilities. Parking for 10,000 vehicles is operated by a hi-tech parking guidance system.
