Formed by Kuwait AW & Gulf Air (40% stake), starting ops on 5/5/93. IPO in 2/05. Attempted take-over of Air Sahara failed in 2006, suceeded in 2007. Announced close cooperation with Kingfisher on 13/10/08 (later put on hold by Indian anti-trust authorities). 10% stake expected to be purchased in 11/08 by Temasek Holdings, Singapore. Preliminary talks with SkyTeam alliance faltered in 2011. 24% expected to be purchased by Etihad Airways for $379m in 2013H1 (approved 7/13 by FIPB). 29% purchased by founder Naresh Goyal in 5/13.
