Greece Athens 2008-
Formed 4/06 by Greek government as empty shell for disposal of assets from Olympic Airlines. 49% purchased in 10/08 by MIG/Marfin Investment Group, Greece following its selection by Greek government. Took over all OA ops on 29/9/09, trading as Olympic Air. Fully purchased by MIG on 1/10/09 and legal name expected to be changed to Olympic Air. Announced 22/2/10 an agreement to merge with Aegean Airlines, with new company dba Olympic Air and planning a future IPO; merger plan denied 26/1/11 by EU anti-trust authorities, circumvented by a "widespread cooperation" agreement effective 27/3/11. 100% purchased by Aegean Airlines for €72m (announced 22/10/12).
